I am Kai Fishburn.
I was raised by my single mom in her dance studio, surrounded by rhythm, movement, and expression. Art has always been central to who I am, but for a long time, I struggled with translating ideas into form. My mom used to say my mind was faster than my hands. Discovering Blender through LEGO YouTube videos changed that. It provided a bridge between imagination and creation, and from there, I grew into other mediums, including photography, pen, acrylic, and animation.
My work is deeply influenced by music, literature, and philosophy. Albert Camus’ existential questions, the honesty of Mac Miller, and the surreal storytelling of Murakami all combine to inspire me. I gravitate toward themes of existence, morality, isolation, and doubt. But even within the heaviness, I aim to anchor my art in hope and love. Through concert photography, I capture the energy and spirit of live shows; through sketches and animation, I shape worlds that reflect the absurd beauty and contradictions of being alive.
I’ve always existed between cultures. Asian, Black, and White, but never tied to a single community. That ambiguity shapes how I see the world: as fragments, overlaps, and in-between spaces. My art is a way to explore those liminal places and invite others into them.
Ultimately, I want my work to remind people that creation is always possible, no matter the form. If my pieces inspire someone else to pick up a camera, a pen, or a piece of software, then I’ve succeeded.
